No-Bake Fresh Dog Treats

Easy, easy, easy! Your pup will eat these up and want more! Loaded with nutritional ingredients and none of that filler crap.

I had the opportunity to visit my sister Julie in her new home this past week. It was a sweet time catching up, eating delicious food and hiking around the hills of Tennessee. While I was there, she shared with me a recipe for dog treats whipped up to reward and love on her dog with. I saw first hand how her dog loved them, licking her chops and looking for more. Every morning after our 2.5 mile walk through her picturesque neighborhood, her pup was rewarded with a “butterball.”

This recipe is easily adaptable, and if you use your imagination, you can come up with a few variations to give your loved pet a little variety.

INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 cup peanut butter

  • 3/8 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 grated carrot

  • 3 cups oatmeal

Combine all ingredients in a standing mixer. Scoop into 1 tablespoon portions. Roll into balls, and place on cookie sheet. Refrigerate 1 hour. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator, up to 2 weeks. Makes 38 treats.

Pumpkin can be substituted with applesauce or sweet potato puree. Other additives include grate raw zucchini, yellow squash, etc.

Make sure the peanut butter you use in this recipe has only natural ingredients, no substitute sweetening additives.
